Our Mission
Prowess K9 is your go-to south suburban dog training company. We aim to inspire our customers to be confident dog owners. Our vision is to be passionate, forward-thinking and balanced trainers. our style of training would be Nepopo along with balanced training methods. A dog we can train using positive methods will receive the same attention and care as a dog needing other methods of training. We focus on training the whole family so dog ownership becomes easier. There are many important aspects in dog ownership and we are here for every step and question. Please feel free to browse our site to determine if we are the right fit for you. Prowess K9 was created in order to provide high quality and affordable dog training. Our philosophy is dogs do not have to be social with other dogs, but they should be able to coexist with other dogs. We are avid dog lovers and wanted to provide a service that allowed families to provide a safe and nurturing environment for their canine companions. Our goal remains, along with working with NAWS Humane Society, that we are able to help so many more families.
Let's talk about the 3 Ds of dog training:
• Distance
• Duration
• Distraction
Distance: If you give your dog a command from 3 feet away, will they listen? What about 6? 10? Working on your dogs' ability to focus and maintain from a distance is important and could even be life-saving. If you find yourself incapacitated, if your dog gets off leash, or if you're dealing with an interaction with another off leash dog, your ability to control your dog from a distance could be critical to your and their safety.
Duration: If you put your dog in the down position, how long will they stay in that down position? Duration can help with many things. Polite greetings and interactions with guests, giving you an opportunity to regain composure if your hands are full and you're holding a leash, and it can help with calming your dog in exciting or stressful situations. Down is a calm behavior for dogs, and being able to maintain that calm posture can make them feel at ease.
Distraction: If you're out for a walk, at the vet, or in a store with other pets and people, does your dog focus on you and still listen to commands? Your dog being able to focus on you despite distractions is critical. Dogs that focus on their handlers tend to be more well-behaved, less stressed, and more confident, and the handler on the other end of the leash will feel the same way.

Private in-home Dog Training
We offer all of our 6-7 and 8-10 session training programs at home! whether you have a puppy or a senior dog we construct a program to handle all of your concerns. Our behavior modification program is 8 sessions and involves more intense training.
